Carnelian Pekapeka / Bat

I carved this pekapeka out of  Carnelian (see photo). It had a recess with a natural botryoidal texture that I wanted to preserve.

I always enjoy these types of carvings. You start with a very unique shape and a rough idea of what you want to carve. Each step is often a compromise and an adaption.

There is a strong contract between the clear (chalcedony) and yellow parts (Carnelian). Both are very translucent.
