Opened winged Carnelian Bat / Pekapeka

This small bat / pekapeka is carved out of a chalcedony/carnelian mix. A beautiful contrast of red and clear stone.

This piece is a development of my pekapeka design. I’ve included a small toothed lower jaw and also developed the nose into more of a snout.

Material – New Zealand carnelian / chalcedony
Carving – 50mm wide
Adjustable hand plaited tan cord
