Small Yellow Pounamu Toki
This pendant is based on a toki (which is a adze or axe shape). Larger toki would have been for woodworking jobs like canoes or houses while smaller ones would have been used for finer work like carving. They have been recorded from ancient Egyptian times up to the present day (now mostly made out of metal).
The design is normally associated with strength or someone who is a maker.
I cut this piece of pounamu from the outside of the stone. The top part is yellow and it changes to green on the bottom. The green stone is nice and translucent.
