Pounamu Toki – Orange skin

Design-wise this carving is based on a toki or chisel. A functional toki (with the end sharpened) would have been used as a tool for carving.

This is a unique pounamu, the outside skin of the stone is a beautiful translucent orange which then turns into a light green as you go further into the stone. I’ve used the skin/rind for the front of the toki which then changes to green at the back.
