Grooved Pounamu Toki

$435 NZD

This stone is a translucent dark green Pounamu with beautiful light cloud fractures.

A toki is a adze or axe shape.  Larger toki would have been for woodworking jobs like canoes or houses while smaller ones would have been used for finer work like carving.  They have been recorded from ancient Egyptian times up to the present day (now mostly made out of metal).

The design is normally associated with strength or someone who is a maker.
