Dominick – One jadeite and two pounamu ruru

I carved this barn owl out of translucent blue jadeite from Guatemala. There’s a little bit of yellow at the bottom that comes from the outside of the stone.

Small Pounamu Ruru $410 NZD

I’ve carved this small Ruru out of a piece of pounamu that had a white outer layer (last photo). This gives the ruru a white front and a darker colour around the eyes.

This sculpture/pendant is of a Ruru / Morepork.  I used the outside rind of the Pounamu for his lighter front and the darker green for his back/wings/tail.
