Pounamu Huia – wip #2
Yesterday was a day of refining the body shape and making the mostly 2d design look 3D (relief carving). I also turned the NZ Jasper (NZ stone) and glued it in the corresponding hole for its wattle.
For the non NZers, the Huia is an extinct native bird. The female had a long curved beak whereas the males was short and straighter.
I’m making the body out of a beautiful dark Pounamu with lighter bands at the bottom (Huia had white ends to their tail feathers)
More soon
