Olive Tokoweka Pounamu Toki

$370

Olive Faceted Toki

Design: This pendant is based on a toki (which is a adze or axe shape).  Larger toki would have been for woodworking jobs like canoes or houses while smaller ones would have been used for finer work like carving.  They have been recorded from ancient Egyptians up to the present day (now mostly made out of metal).  The design is normally associated with strength or someone who is a maker.

This olive Pounamu has lots of gold-coloured fleck going through it. When held up to the light you can see red streaks in the bottom part. When you get red in Pounamu it is called tokoweka (blood of the weka).
