“Magical”

This piece is something special.  I always find Chrysoprase a little surreal to carve. It has such an amazing colour and translucence.  I carved a pot-bellied seahorse which is the type we get here in New Zealand. A magical creature for a magical stone.

This could be worn with the carving in the front for a sharper seahorse or turned over with the carving as reverse intaglio for a more hidden, secretive feel.

* I found it hard to capture the true color in our bright spring sun. The stone has a much stronger color in real life like the other pieces on the Chrysoprase page.
